EMIS Number & Board Details
- CBSE & EMIS: The Educational Management Information System (EMIS) is primarily for Tamil Nadu state board schools. CBSE schools in the state usually generate these, but many do not. Ask your school principal for your 16-digit number.
- Foreign CBSE Students: You will not have a TN EMIS number.
- Incorrect / Missing EMIS: If your school does not have an EMIS for you, or if you studied abroad, the selection committee explicitly allows you to enter 0000000 or leave it blank if the portal permits. No need to create a new registration ID; it will not result in rejection.
- Degree Holders: You can absolutely use the EMIS number printed on your 12th standard Transfer Certificate (TC).
- Subject Codes: Use standard CBSE codes: Physics (042), Chemistry (043), and Biology (044).
Certificates & Documentation
Bonafide Certificates
- Mandatory Status: A Bonafide certificate from classes 6 to 12 is mandatory to claim nativity and the 7.5% government school quota.
- Older Certificates: An older certificate (e.g., from 2021) is perfectly acceptable as long as it clearly states your period of study.
- Multiple Schools: You must obtain separate Bonafide certificates from every school you attended between 6th and 12th grade.
- Closed Schools: If your 6th-standard school shut down, get a certificate from the District Educational Officer (DEO) or Chief Educational Officer (CEO) verifying the school's past existence and your enrollment.
- Combined Certificates: A single certificate combining both Bonafide and Conduct details is completely acceptable.
Transfer Certificate (TC)
- College TC vs. 12th TC: Do not upload a college graduation TC. Medical counseling requires your 12th TC.
- Held by College: If your current college holds your original 12th TC, get a formal "Bonafide Certificate" from your college dean/principal stating your original 12th TC is in their custody. Upload this letter with a scanned photocopy of your 12th TC.
Community, Income & EWS Certificates
- Income Certificate: Mandatory for fee exemptions or post-matric scholarships (SC/SCA/ST). If delayed, upload the application acknowledgment receipt now, but have the original ready for physical verification.
- First Graduate Certificate: You can reuse a previously obtained permanent digital certificate with a valid e-signature/QR code. No fresh one needed each year.
- EWS Certificate: Only valid for the financial year issued. A 2025–2026 EWS certificate is precisely what you need for this cycle.
- Marksheet Scans: Scan both front and back of your marksheets, as the back often contains official stamps or grading instructions.
Name & Identity Mismatches
- Aadhaar vs. Certificates: The name on your 10th and 12th marksheets is your primary legal name. If your application used your parent's name as on Aadhaar, but school certificates show an initial, get a "One and the Same" affidavit sworn before a Notary Public.
- Birth Certificate: You do not need to change your birth certificate to add a surname. The 10th marksheet takes precedence. Missing initials on a birth certificate will not disqualify you.
- Spelling Mistakes: If your Community Certificate has a spelling error and correction is pending, upload the current one. Carry proof of the pending correction application and a notarized affidavit to physical verification.
- Nativity vs. Residency: Nativity implies permanent roots/domicile; residency means you currently live there. Uploading a residency certificate instead of a Nativity certificate will lead to State Quota rejection. Get a proper e-Sevai Nativity certificate.
NEET Exam & Preparation
- NEET Admit Card: Upload the actual admit card taken into the exam hall (with postcard photo and signatures). If lost, the downloaded soft copy is acceptable. Use the official "Correction Window" to replace wrong files.
- NEET 2027 High-Weightage Chapters: Focus heavily on Genetics & Evolution, Human Physiology, Cell Structure, Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Coordination Compounds, and Organic Chemistry basics.
Cut-offs, Marks, & Quotas
SC Category Score Projections (General Trends)
386 Marks: GMC seat highly unlikely. Management Quota or self-financing BDS seat is very possible.
300 Marks: No chance for a GMC. Looking at Management Quota MBBS or private BDS.
440 Marks: Very strong chance for a GMC, likely in newer district colleges or self-financing government quota seats.
470 Marks: Guaranteed GMC seat in a well-established college.
7.5% Government School Reservation
- Application Scope: Applies exclusively to Government Quota seats (GMCs and government-surrendered seats in private colleges). Does not apply to Management Quota.
- 186 Marks (BDS): Highly unlikely, even under the 7.5% quota. Cutoffs usually hover higher.
- 407 Marks (MBC): Excellent score for the 7.5% quota. Practically guaranteed an MBBS seat in a top GMC.
Special Quotas
- OBC PWD Cutoff: Exactly the 40th percentile qualifying mark set by NTA for that year (usually 110-130 marks).
- Ward of IP (ESIC): Not automatic. Log into the ESIC portal using the insured parent's details, generate the official "Ward of IP" certificate, and apply under the ESIC quota via the MCC portal.
- IRT Quota: For children of TN State Transport Corporation employees. Apply through a separate form from the IRT/transport department with parent's employment certificates.
- Sports Quota: Submit one consolidated application, listing and uploading your highest-level sports certificates as outlined in the sports annexure.
- Christian Minority (423 Marks): Solid score. Aim for self-financing Christian minority colleges (e.g., CMC Vellore, Trichy SRM).
Registration & Technical Errors
- Typo "Cm" vs "CM": System registration numbers are not case-sensitive. "Cm" is read identically to "CM".
- School Name Distortions: If the portal shows "GDOTHDOTSDOT" instead of "G.H.S.S", it is a website coding error failing to read punctuation. Ignore it; underlying data is correct.
- School Status Changes: Always input the school name exactly as printed on your 12th-grade marksheet.
- Revaluation Marks: Enter new, revalued marks. Upload the official online printout and get a Bonafide letter from your principal confirming the change. If marks decreased, you must enter the decreased marks.
- File Upload Failure: Clear browser cache, ensure PDF is under size limit (usually 500KB), remove spaces/special characters from file name (e.g.,
TC_copy.pdf), and retry. - Fee for SC Christian: SC candidates in TN are generally exempt from the application fee or pay a heavily reduced fee (e.g., ₹500). Check the current year's prospectus.
- Signature Ink: Black ink is preferred for clearer scanning, but dark blue ink is perfectly acceptable.
Counseling Process
- GQ vs. MQ Logins: If you paid for both, do not panic if the MQ link isn't working yet. Portals often activate on different timelines or merge into a single dashboard. Check your payment receipt.
- Quota Display Mismatch: A UI priority sorting issue. As long as your final application printout indicates you applied for both, you are fine.
- All India Quota (AIQ): Apply at mcc.nic.in. Veterinary AIQ is managed by VCI and opens a few weeks after medical MCC counseling begins.
- Counseling Rounds: You can participate in all 4 rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up, Stray Vacancy). Strict upgrade rules apply: accepting/joining a college in Round 2 generally blocks further state or AIQ rounds.
- Deadlines: Check tnmedicalselection.net or mcc.nic.in for exact closing dates.
- Vaccination: Hepatitis B vaccination is mandatory upon joining any medical college. Start the 3-dose schedule before classes begin.
Official Counseling Portals
For medical admissions counseling, there are two distinct official portals depending on your quota:
1. Tamil Nadu State Quota (85% State Seats & 7.5% Govt School Quota)
- Primary Application Portal: tnmedicalselection.net
- Alternative/Notification Portal: tnhealth.tn.gov.in
2. All India Quota (15% AIQ, Deemed/Central Universities, ESIC, AFMC)
- Official MCC Portal: mcc.nic.in
⚠️ Critical Mobile Warning
For the TN State Quota, always advise students to use a desktop or laptop to fill out the application via tnmedicalselection.net, as the portal's document upload features frequently glitch on mobile browsers.
