The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Tamil Nadu, has officially published the prospectus for admission to the B.Sc. (Nursing) Degree Course for the 2026-2027 academic session. This notification applies to Government Colleges as well as Government Quota seats within Self-Financing Colleges affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

- Last Date to Apply & Upload Documents: July 3, 2026, up to 5:00 P.M.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Age & Nativity
- Candidates must have completed 17 years of age by December 31, 2026.
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen and a native of Tamil Nadu.
- Candidates who have studied from 6th to 12th standard partially or fully outside Tamil Nadu must produce a valid Nativity Certificate issued by a competent Revenue Authority of Tamil Nadu.
2. Academic Qualifications
- Candidates must have studied English as one of the subjects.
- Subject Combination A: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are mandatory.
- Subject Combination B: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
- Minimum Aggregate Marks:
- Open Category (OC): Minimum 45% aggregate marks in the required subjects.
- BC / BCM / MBC & DNC: Minimum 40% aggregate marks in the required subjects.
- SC / SCA / ST: Minimum 40% aggregate marks in the required subjects.
Fee Structure details
Application & Processing Fees
- Online Application Fee: ₹500. Note: SC, SCA, and ST candidates are exempt from paying this fee.
- Counselling Processing Fee: ₹250 (payable online prior to participating in the counselling).
Tuition Fees (Per Annum)
- Government Colleges: ₹3,000 per annum.
- Self-Financing Colleges (Government Quota): ₹60,000 per annum.
- Note: These fees do not cover hostel, transport, or mess charges. Furthermore, students allotted seats under the Persons with Benchmark Disability category are exempted from paying tuition and special fees.
Discontinuation Fee
- Candidates who secure a seat in a Government Medical College and discontinue the course after the university's final cut-off date will be subjected to a discontinuation fee of ₹1,00,000.
Reservation & Allotment Policy
The state government allocates seats strictly based on merit and the following communal reservation policy:
- Open Competition (OC): 31%.
- Backward Class (BC): 30% (Includes a 3.5% internal reservation for BC Muslims).
- Most Backward Community (MBC): 20%.
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 18% (Includes a 16% internal allocation for the Arunthathiyar community).
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 1%.
Gender Ratio: For the B.Sc. (Nursing) course, the seat ratio between men and women is mandated at 1:9.
